News is breaking today that the Obama Administration, backed by the U.S. State Department, will not approve the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline between Canada and the U.S. See Meteor Blades report here:
As noted, the decision will most certainly be justification for a wave of campaign ads claiming that the Obama Administration is anti-jobs and anti-energy self-sufficiency, and anti-oil and anti-business.
In Canada, one of the arguments behind the project was that efforts to stop it were an example of the U.S. trying to dictate energy policy to Canada. Nationalism is always a wonderful tool, but thinking Canadian citizens know that this issue isn't the U.S. vs. Canada. This issue is one which doesn't stop at ANY border....it involves pollution and one of the worst threats to expanded global warming now on the drawing boards.
